Six Days is a four-piece piano-based team from Canada, three of whose members were formerly part of Capstone, which band produced an outstanding debut disc ('Integreality') a few years back, receiving positive feedback from Mr Rimmer in this 'ere mag. The style on this seven-song EP is acoustic pop with a pleasing melodic sound. Joel Auge was and is the songwriter and it's his distinctive rootsy lead vocals that give the set its real appeal. Lyrics (printed in the inserts but far too small to read!) are simple (though not simplistic) and are all direct communications with God relating to matters of personal faith. "So Deep In Love" is a worship ballad, which like the more rousing "Stir A Heart", elaborates slightly on a basic, oft-repeated refrain. Avoiding the tendency towards sameness, the band diversify into different moods. "Listening" is a tender and moving moment of dialogue with God; "Climb" employs quirky programming on which Auge overlays a non-cliched testimony (though it doesn't match the similarly autobiographical "Better" on 'Integreality' for its knockout vocal delivery). This is fine music - worth taking note of.
