With 1.5 million CDs sold, a Grammy nomination and a Dove Award it seems a fair summation to describe Sonicflood as a successful band (if not the same one that stared out). It's unfortunate, and not aimed as a slight to the 1.5 million CD owning fans out there, that when the title track opens with the words "This generation worships you," I had to stop and wonder if it does. Of course we want it to, but the statement is at least debatable and although an interview on the website tells us that "we shouldn't underestimate this generation" the song gives no further explanation. What isn't in question is that this is a hugely proficient CD. "You Are", "Everlasting" and "Moment Of Glory" showcase the genuine likeability of Rick Heil's voice while "Never Forget You" and "All I've Failed To Be" capture the humility and proclamation of the message the band hope to achieve. This is capable fare; heavy riff opening, gentler lyric leading towards catchy chorus. The climactic track "God Is Here" ends things on a slowly accelerating note that although never seeming to get into fifth gear certainly moves smoothly through the first four. Whether it's the sort of sound that will linger probably depends on what the listener brings to it rather than what the music delivers.
