"A group of refreshing, energetic yet smooth contemporary vocalists, singing gospel lyrics with urban grooves" is how the publicity spiel goes and I'm not arguing. A six woman, three man aggregation who manage to get a pretty soulful blend of harmonies while the programming, though hardly getting beyond post-new-jack swing beats has an appealing, rough edged feel to it even if occasional synth voicings are a tad cheesy. Songs are in-your-face originals with titles like "He Can Save Your Life" and "I Will Bless The Lord" though the cover of the off-revived "Lean On Me" seems a mistake. Still, this is the sound of today's gospel music and Soul have the potential to move on to bigger things.
