Since I first heard it when it was a free download the opening cut "Dry Bones" has grown and grown on me. The towering chorus of aahs which cuts away to the croakingly expressive voice and wistful piano interjections make it a hugely haunting anthem. The other songs on this impressive EP clearly show that the Rugby-based modern folk trio are no one trick pony. "My Love" is a deft voice-and-acoustic ballad which has something of the reflective mood Nick Drake once captured as James reflects on his love and her aversion for "cheap flattery words." "Break In" is a folk rocker crying out for airplay and the closer "Two Bands Of Gold", first heard in a live version on the aforementioned free download, is a finely observed song about the singer's grandparents ("The good old days/Seem far away/But not for this old pair"). Catch up with these guys, they're something special.
