It's funny. Only yesterday I was reading that Christian music pioneer Jimmy Owens considered Charles Wesley's "O For A Thousand Tongues" the greatest worship song and here's a snappy contemporised version to kick off this album. The thunderous rock drums and jangling guitars add the bite and singer Nicki Allen (one of the four Brit session singers used here ) does a competent job with Thomas Jarman's elegant melody. But of course it's Mr Wesley's magnificent Christocentric lyrics which demand most attention. This set also offers pleasant on the ear renditions of "Crown Him With Many Crowns" (nice drum loop), "Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer", "And Can It Be" and another eight classics from our hymnals. Hopefully, this album will help another generation discover their luminous quality.
