Reviewed by Geoff Howlett 16 songs, and over 75 minutes of music is contained on this album from what, I believe, are two groups of musicians. With original material, the people of St Thomas' give their all in offering a brand new collection of worship songs for use within the Church. Starting well enough with the Kendrick tinged "The Lord Is Riding Out", it soon degenerates with the second track, "Higher". This, along with two other tracks written by the same people, has a bluesy funk feel, all of which left me cringing at the thought of singing them in my church. However, all is not lost. In Joannah Oyeniran's singing and song writing, they have a real gem. The most beautiful vocals imaginable appear on "Who Is Like You" - reminiscent of dkf's Debs Mohabir. This formula is the most successful and is repeated on "Desperate For The Truth", which tells of the need for God in your life. Other highlights are the piano led "Love And Compassion", "Carry Me" (complete with string quartet), and the closing "Deep Peace". If you are looking for a change from the usual worship songwriters, give it a try.
