My first impression of this album was very much American middle of the road CCM. However, having listened to the album several times I have found myself being drawn into what is a very thoughtful, prayerful and worshipful collection of songs. Each has something profound to say to us, reminding us of spiritual truths, our calling and encouraging us to move forward. Personally, if I've got an album full of songs such as this then the quality of the music becomes less important. But when the music supports the lyrics as well as they do here, with choirs, strings and all the producers art the overall effect is magnificent. Many of the songs put me in mind of such stage musicals as 'Joseph'. Very big songs, sung with passion. It would seem a short step to take 'The Letter1 and make it into a stage musical in its own right, such is the strength of the album. Don't be afraid to play this one loud. Easy listening it may be, but some of these tracks are powerful and best appreciated at volume.
