This is the first album from this Hertfordshire-based worship leader and features a wide variety of song styles (though mostly in the praise and worship style) all of which are self penned over a three year period. Like many an independent first album this sounds as if it has been produced on a tight budget and consequently is a little lacking in terms of production, quality/number of backing musicians and variety of arrangements. Despite the restrictions this is an album full of Scripturally-based passionate worship sung by a man who is obviously passionate about his God and his music. Steve’s voice may not be one of the strongest that you will ever hear but sounding very similar in places to people like Chris Rea/Mark Knoppfler it certainly has character. Personally I don’t think this is an album to set the Christian music world alight but I’m certain that the folks at Holdbrook Christian Fellowship (and other places beside) will be blessed by this and as for Steve’s future – given the backing support and opportunities the raw talent is definitely there!
