In my opinion, hip-hop as a genre has never done itself any favours by using over repetitive loops and samples. That aside, this is an outstanding release. The rhymes and the vocal delivery are arguably more important than the loops anyway, and the delivery here is uncompromising, unadulterated, extremely passionate and with big attitude and authority. I have never heard the Gospel message delivered with such attitude and, well, fire. The effect is captivating. Street Sweepers are three "Ministers of the Gospel" from Washington DC and Philadelphia and between them have penned 14 tracks containing gospel truths, challenges, warnings against sin (yes, they use the "s" word) and messages of God's love, all rapped with skill and intelligence. Current hip-hop stars such as Jay-Z and Snoop-Dog have put me off the whole hip-hopgenre with their endless boasting and lewd content. Street Sweepers win me back.
