Pete Garofalo's life was changed when he visited Morocco. He went to help build a village for around 100 orphans so that they could grow up in a loving environment. This album is a musical and spiritual response to that experience and some of the proceeds will continue to fund the work out there. It's an interesting blend of western pop music, African rhythms and melodies and bedroom recording technology. Mainly this is keyboard driven with a few live instruments added, the largest sound is an ambient dance feel which works its way into many of the songs. To be honest, the overall sound is a little ropey but there are plenty of interesting moments, creative vocals, cool sax, all of which seem to happily collide on my favourite track, "Firebones". Creative and interesting!
