This is a very traditional, instrumental album, for me personally it takes me back to my childhood back in the '70s in our old Pentecostal church where there used to be one pianist and an organ player at opposite ends of the stage, fighting for control over the choruses. Well, not quite like that but this would fit into that era effortlessly. It has some Jewish and classical influences, you would think that stereo had just been invented by the way the sounds constantly get moved around, but it is appropriate to the music and yet it helped it sound even more traditional. Sylvia, based in Lawrence, Kansas, is a very educated but creative musician, she has obviously put a lot of effort into this album with complicated arrangements, moving the focus of the melody around to different sounds and she has executed some exceptionally tight material. However, her equipment sounds very dated and hence sounds are too. You can listen to some samples on her website at www.sylvialind.com follow the link to the music section and click on the appropriate design to access the sample tracks.
