Zao fans may have already heard about this band. Former Zao vocalist Sean Jonas is back as frontman for Symphony In Peril, a band hotly tipped to make a big impression on the hardcore scene. So, was it worth the wait? Well, the album kicks off in blistering fashion. There's no intro here, the aggression just hits you instantly. Unfortunately that's pretty much all there is to it. Sure, it may be heavy but something is missing. There is no point playing heavy music just for the sake of it. Little thought appears to have gone into this album. Technically the musicians simply aren't gifted and the end result is a collection of songs which sounds unfocused and very one-dimensional, therefore the album grows rather dull fairly quickly. But if you liked Zao then you just might be interested in this band but don't get your hopes up.
