Take No Glory is a team of "musicianaries" from around the US that tour with the sole purpose of evangelism. 'Wake Me Up' is their second album since their inception in August 2007. Since February this year they have ministered at 100 concerts across three continents. . .an impressive achievement. There are now 19 members of Take No Glory, although I don't believe that they all played on the CD! Title track and opener is quite rocky with the tag line "I don't want to sleep this life away." The first half of the album is all quite similar, but from track five, "Everyday Eternity", the fuzz boxes are put in the cupboard and a bit more light and shade is brought into play. "Adopted" has the wonderful chorus line "I can call you my Dad," reminding us of how personal our relationship with God can be. "He Didn't Die In Vain" is a heartfelt testimony on the Cross and "Jesus Is The Word" is a recording of John's Gospel, further reinforcing the "musicianary" standing of the project. This album would be a recommended purchase, but the album is actually free to download and distribute from Takenoglory.com; they only ask that you pass it on to those who will be touched and blessed by it.
