Independent releases come in all shapes and sizes and always have the capacity to surprise! This simple recording of 20 songs by Terry, mainly just voice and acoustic guitar, feels like an offering of music from a man glad that his journey has brought him to the feet of Jesus. A lifetime of searching and travelling (literally! Terry lives on the road in a horse drawn caravan!) ended three years ago when he became a Christian and began to play guitar again after 12 years of not playing! Musically these songs are an old fashioned whisper of simplicity amongst the hi tech CCM scene, the sort of music that people would play in Christian coffee bars when I got saved back in the '70s. His plaintive vocal pitched (occasionally out of tune!) over a guitar with occasional other instruments augmenting the songs may appeal if you are a bit of a folkie! The descriptive "Beautiful Day" paints word pictures of creation; "If You Ever Cry Out To Jesus" is "Bring It All Home To Me" with new lyrics and "Rock'n'Roll For Jesus" cleverly interweaves rock'n'roll references into the lyrics. By no means perfect in execution but an honest selection of songs truly focussed on God.
