Reviewed by Paul Poulton I've been waiting for this. No ordinary choir, they've sung with Amy Grant and other luminaries, now they release their first CD. Great! What a clean, polished recording it is, DubbaDaDubba bass lines climbing and falling all over the show. Three part choir: sopranos, altos and tenors soar, weave and glide through the 10 infectious songs. "Holiness Is Right" is a didactic song - unusual for choirs don't you think? Excellent lyrics, I'm learning as I listen. Yeah I know holiness is right, but when it's told to me in such a moving, groovy song it hits home with the force of a rubber bullet thudding into my chest. Each song has a lead singer making it accessible to Joe Public and Fred Bloggs, who sometimes need encouragement to listen to anything that wouldn't make it onto Pop Idol. CeCe takes the lead vocal on the slow but superb "Pass The Gates", this being her home church in Nashville. I'm thinking that CeCe's name has been used to flog the album, but that's okay; everyone featured here is talented without any doubt. At no time does this collection begin to drag, no low-point. As the Americans say, "It will let you get your shout on." If I could translate that for Hilda and Fred: it's a jolly nice CD.
