Southampton-based indie band The Bright Expression have been ploughing their own furrow of intelligent electronica-tinged music over the last few years and this 2019 single finds them at the top of their game. Employing a driving soundscape that morphs several times throughout the track - most notably with its delightfully cacophonous ending - this is a song about trying to beat cynicism and wanting life to be more than just grey. Thanks to the sheer musical skill of all involved and an impassioned performance from vocalist Leigh Patching, it's hard not to get caught up in the sentiment of this thrilling piece.
