If you're into hardcore crossover, this is definitely for you, but watch out for the 'breakables'. This is the band Kerrang slagged off because of the 'slightly' pointed lyrics on their debut album. It seems to me that this could be a recurring problem. But who cares? I'm pleased to say the production on 'Pillars' is better than it was on their debut, but about the songs, well... Musically, the material is composed to achieve greater flow and played to a far tighter standard than before. I think these guys could stand up against just about any hardcore outfit. "Mindbender" is the track to look out for, but beware sweaty bodies. The title track is also very cool and the lyrics to "The Strength" are worth printing on any tea towel. If The Pillars Of Humanity' doesn't move the jaded metal freak nothing will.
