One of the intriguing things about America's grassroots gospel scene is that the old quartet sound which grew to prominence in the '50s has not died out. This group from Grenada, Mississippi, have been around for years and although they have never reached the heights of a Mighty Clouds Of Joy or a Violinaires they clearly have all the fiery passion and slick harmonies one associates with quartet music. Stanley Burl and Bobby Yates handle the lead vocals and do so with aplomb while the material here, ranging from the traditional "Troubles Of This World" and Willie Banks' "God Is Still In Charge", together with a Burl original "Good To Be Back", is perfectly suited to their powerhouse approach.
