It being my lot to wade through mountains of private tapes for various mags, I admit to approaching this with something of a sigh. The opener "When I Was Young" jerked me into paying attention, a very pleasing ballad, given a gentle pop/rock treatment and highlighting the light, airy voice of David Griffiths. "Kill Him" continues the well-worn path of songs surveying Calvary's scene, but it's convincing and moving. When the band move into funkier territory, however, as in "68" the quality plummets down to considerable disorder of the kind usually handled by our other reviewer Gladys Allover, the voice sounds pretty horrible there, to be honest. So, enjoyment rises and falls through the tape's progress; stick to what you do well lads and you'll be okay.
