Christian music, like the mainstream is not short of music-making families. Now we have these guys from Indiana and here the husband and wife and three kids present us with a mix of thoughtful, reflective, accessible pop with father, Tom, providing the main vocals and songwriting. Standout tracks are "Where Is God", asking where is God in times of difficulty, and "Your Love" with its deeply personal lyrics. Tom also benefits from vocal backing from Kaylyn (17), Maggie (15) and Jonathon (13), whose impressive harmonies defy their ages. Many of the lyrics are family orientated (but not so much that you cringe), such as the Christmas song "The Greatest Gift" (featuring veteran guitar maestro Phil Keaggy) and "Knight In Armour" reflecting when Mum (or should that be Mom!) and Dad met. The album's strength is songs that speak to the heart such as the bonus track "I Surrender", featuring well known songwriter Jeremy Casella on backing vocals, which reflects on the paradox of the Christian life. Overall, this is a strong introduction to a highly talented family.
