This CD contains a mixture of gospel, pop and rock-n-roll. The promotional material introduces it with "Kids are going to love praising the Lord PK style on this new album." It took me a while to work out what PK style meant... 'PK' is, of course, Promise Keepers, the American movement for men. The idea of the CD is that the kids sing the songs that their dads sing at Promise Keepers events. Some of the songs will be familiar to a British audience - "1 See The Lord", "Great Is The Lord", The Power Of Your Love" and "Lord I Lift Your Name On High", but the rest were new to me. As usual with Maranatha products, the arrangements are polished, although very mechanical and a bit too easy listening for my liking. Some of it has more up to date sound to it than many other Maranatha offerings, but there is still quite a lot that is in the old children's choir style of Sunday school sing-a-longs, and generally the children's vocals are lacking in punch. I can see the idea of a CD aimed at children, but with songs that are not specifically written for children... but for me it just doesn't quite hit the button. Good effort but I'm still waiting.
