The Jesus music of the early '70s was all about a creative response to the Holy Spirit's promptings to communicate the Gospel rather than any attempt to record songs for those in the churches. Kinfolk toured extensively on the east coast of America, made a few crude recordings and then disbanded after some grueling years of life on the road. So this album, released in 2014, came as a major surprise to Jesus music historians and those who still remember the simpler age before the CCM industry emerged. 'Visions, Hopes And Dreams' is a delightful snapshot of a group who still have an engaging approach to music which is part country, part rock and part folk while the autobiographical "The House Of The Rising Son" is a warmhearted remembrance of coffee house ministry. I'm not sure whether The Kinfolk Project from Jacksonville, Florida exists as an ongoing, gigging unit. If they are, their rootsy, mellow and joyful ministry in song would warm the heart of many an audience.

Remember this group with very fond memories. I was the "adult" yopung person who oversaw the younger adults who led The house of the Risen Son Coffee House. It was an amazing time for a number of years watching our LOrd work through the local coffee house ministries. The Kinfolk are amazing and led many of Friday night programs for our coffee house and others around town. Always will have blessed memories of them and their witnessing. Great to see them still going and being led by the Spirit.
