Labyrinths were originally a part of mediaeval cathedrals that allowed spiritual pilgrims to explore and enrich their faith. They were an activity that formed part of the spiritual journey of the time - a moment for reflection and prayer. A spiritual exercise to bring the seeker closer to God. Now there's a revival of the old idea and here we have a third millennium version of the phenomenon but this time with the aid of 21st century technology. This CD forms part of the soundtrack for the modern labyrinth which has been touring the UK in recent years at cathedrals and events. These meditations are part of the experience when you visit the labyrinth but they also work on another level simply as a CD to open the listener to meditate on their journey with God. Written in unreligious language and designed to provide an experience that will work for those who are Christians and those who are seeking. The CD is another collaboration between the Two Johnnys - Baker and Birch - with contributions from Doug Gay and Andy Thornton. It reflects the producers' unerring ability to create brilliant ambient music. The narratives which make up the meditations stretch the imagination of the participant, ask questions and beckon them out of the comfort zone and yet at the same time bring comfort, peace and reflection. Truly stunning.
