From the east coast of America come this trio featuring mother, son and daughter-in-law making a pretty straight forward classic Southern gospel sound with optimistic songs of the future and the sweet life to be found in the by and by when God calls us home. The trio have a bit of history on the scene but don't make music that gets me excited. This isn't a genre known for its radical approaches but even considering the conservative nature of things, this is pretty ordinary. Toe-tapping upbeat songs and nice harmonies for the slowies means that everything is as it should be but there isn't anything to set The McCormicks apart from the three thousand other Southern groups around. Songs of child cripples, silver trumpets blowing and a spoken word story about a boy who couldn't afford to buy any shoes or a coat that is so sentimental that it'll make you throw up your lunch with embarrassment.
