Bluegrass is a very specialised form of country that certainly seems to qualify for the "love it or hate it" category. Me, I love all that furious picking, wailing harmonies and sentimental serenading. Brother duets have always featured prominently in the bluegrass hall of fame, a tradition kept alive by various contemporary outfits. The brothers McCoury are amongst the best, proved beyond doubt by this superslick session. The vocal harmonies are sharp, accurate and emotional and Del And Jerry's prowess on their stringed instruments is highly rated. They are joined by three of the best, Eddie Stubbs (fiddle), Richard Underwood (guitar), David McLaughlin (mandolin), masters of the art without exception. Personal favourite tracks include "Road Of Love", "Joy Of Revelation" and "A Heart Never Knows" but it's all nice stuff, highly potent and enjoyable. Real music, I'd say.
