Mighty Clouds Of Joy must be classed as ancient in comparison to most other Christian artists, having been around for over 33 years. Why then is this Best Of collection less than 37 minutes long? And why are the songs only taken from three of their many albums? There are four songs from 'Cloudburst', four from 'Mighty Clouds Alive', one from 'Sing And Shout' and, as is the trend with best of collections, one new recording. If these facts are any reflection of their career they don't reflect on this very good collection. The album opens with the new live recording "God's Love" and is followed by a James Cleveland-written, Paul Beasley-led (he of the stratospheric falsetto) "Walk Around Heaven All Day" which, though different in style to the rest of the album is probably the best track. It is the outstanding lead vocals of Joe Liggon that carries this album, even the weakest song is brought to life by the church-wrecking veterans. I would have expected more songs on a 30 plus years retrospective album (will we see volume 2?), but what little we get is good.
