There was a famous reggae group called The Pioneers but this isn't them. These guys were an Anglo American group whose style was the poppy end of '60s Southern gospel. This, their second single, followed their debut EP. Both songs have a pleasant sound and the group's vocals and harmonies are once again at the fore with leads interchanged and harmonies all firmly in place. "It's Always Darkest Before The Dawn" is a song of encouragement not to give up because God is about to break through while the B side "When I Found The Lord" is more of the same. The accompaniment on this rare single is provided by Preston's The Cobblers.
