Hybrid of rapture-style beats and Ferdinand-style guitar licks, glued together with Analogue keyboard riffs and arpeggios, Bournemouth-based The Plymouths (eh?) put together a very listenable package. Aiming squarely at the mainstream scene with their own brand of indie rock, this EP stands them in good stead to make playlists; that, coupled with the fact their support slots have included dates with Elastica-sounding band Ladyfuzz and the Zane Lowe championed Captain. Though sounding top notch, The Plymouths seem to have feet in both camps of the world and the Christian faith. First track "Party" has definitely skidded the wrong side of the line for me lyrically, but the next track "Need Your Love" talks of needing "...your grace giving love". I'm not sure this kind of schizophrenic approach is going to work in the long run. If they're in doubt of which way provides the best security career-wise Psalm 37 verse four comes to mind.
