This month marks 3 years since we lost the songwriting
talented Dottie Rambo: oh what a loss to the world of gospel
music. We are blessed beyond words to hear her songs that
still are heard today.
I wouldn't be without this collection of songs! The 1968
classic "He Looked Beyond My Fault" will alwayz be a top
favorite; recorded so beautifully in 1993 by Heirloom: Of
course the melody had been heard the decade prior for the
classic song "Danny Boy".
How many gospel artists have recorded "If That Isn't Love";
I have it by several artists to include The Imperials who
recorded at the early start of their ccm career. This 2 cd
set includes another favorite church classic song "Sheltered
in the Arms of GOD". From the 1978 lp "Love Letters" is the
gigantic hit " I Go to the Rock"; pop ccm duo Aaron Geoffrey
did a top notch recording of this hand clapper for their
1995 debut release. The beautiful title song from 1978 lp
"Love Letters" speaks with it's Heaven sent words:
The recording of this song is awesome. The 1981 classic "We
Shall Behold Him" echoes loudly today in the hearts of
believers; of course who can ever forget how songstress
Sandi Patty covered this song the same year: I can still see
Dottie's emotional reactions listening to Sandi sing the
song on a Bill & Gloria special. I luv the upbeat song "New
Shoes".
The Oakridge Boys covered "Mama's Teaching the Angels How to
Sing"; how many who have lost their Mother can relate to
this song!: I lost my Mother prior to the year of Dottie's
passing. The 1977 penned
church spiritual, "Holy Spirit, Thou Art Welcome" is beyond
words;I cannot tell you how many times I have sung this in
church. THANK YOU DOTTIE FOR SO MANY HEAVEN SENT SONGS
THAT WILL CARRY ON THROUGHOUT ETERNITY!! You can bet without
a doubt, that Dottie is in that Heavenly choir.
GOD Bless them all!! - Don
