The Reeds are composed of two permanent members, Scott Wainwright and Karen Stennett, who are also the primary songwriters on this debut album. The album is mostly a relaxing mixture of songs, intentionally stripped down to keep the sound simple and sweet. The songs come from a desire to celebrate God and often include personal thoughts and experiences. It has a very "live" feel. 'All In A Day's Musing' is a warm and relaxing debut meant to focus on the vocals and the meaning behind the lyrics. My favourite track was "Love Never Fails", featuring Karen's soaring vocals and the equally soothing message: "Love is patient, love is kind/Love is rest to a weary mind./Love is the one thing that never fails." The only thing that gets tiring on this album is Karen's own harmonizing. Too much of a good thing is too much! This minor complaint aside, the debut by The Reeds is an excellent folk record.
