If you are as long in the tooth as this ancient journo and you hail from Scotland, you may remember the band December, once raved over in the pages of Cross Rhythms. I am thrilled to report that the lady lead singer from that group, Aileeri Pattison, now fronts this fine new group out of the Kings Church in Motherwell. And rather spiffing they are too! Aileen's voice has an eery, once-heard-never-forgotten quality which conquers all listener resistance while the songs here from husband Scott with their focus on worship are fine vehicles for her Celtic folk-tinged phrasing. The production by David Lyon, another big talent in Scottish CCM, keeps everything tight and fluid. My current favourite is the mid tempo opener "The Lord Is My Keeper" though the ballad "Rescue" and the song "Where I Walk" (where David Ramage takes over the vocal mike) are also excellent. Another example of how Scottish grassroots Christian music is making giant strides forward.
