The north-eastern rockers have a fascinating history since their formation in 2003. Starting off as Steel Machine (three independent releases), they became The Steels and in 2007 went full-time and landed critical praise and considerable airplay with their 'Your Name In Lights' album. Now finally, the band have secured a record label contract and have moved into rock worship territory. In fact, several of the songs here were produced by the much-loved Yfriday man, Ken Riley. The title track for 'Supreme' is a powerful intro with lead vocalist Adam Carmichael determinedly declaring, "We will not be afraid even if the ground shakes. . . fear will never break us". Carmichael blasts his songs out passionately and tunefully, and the lyrics are often glory-themed with the intention of leading people to encounter God, particularly in a live setting. The cherry on the top of the cake is undoubtedly the final track "Disposable", a dreamy composition about storing up our treasures in Heaven, as everything we own on this world is ultimately disposable. Other highlights include "Better Not Dance", the band's second release of the track which had previously appeared on 'Your Name In Lights', and is frankly a more finely tuned, cleaner sounding version than its predecessor; "Glorify", a challenging worship song; and "Someone Like You", a slightly down-tempo number, but toe-tappingly cool, and is about the gift of grace. All in all, an impressive set of modern worship songs.

Product Description

Coming from the North East of England, this three-piece signed to Kingsway earlier this summer. All in their twenties, all having been on the road together for years, all with a shared passion for seeing their music help people establish deeper connections with God.

The Steels are a classic modern worship rock trio, fired up by a belief in the timeless power of music to inspire and transform.

Supreme was produced by Ken Riley of Yfriday, with whom they share similarly strong connections to Youth For Christ. With a heavy UK touring schedule The Steels are constantly on the road, working wherever possible alongside local churches to offer more than just a gig. Worship, outreach and ministry all combine in the work of The Steels. Expect an album that inspires and engages at every turn, the sort that asks questions and points in the direction of the heavenly answers.

Key songs include: Supreme, Made To Worship, Steal My Heart and Sing If You’re With Me.
