For a fan of the Golden Age of Gospel Music this is without doubt the treat of the millennium so far; 45 tracks on two CDs, lovingly remastered, from one of the immortal names of the gospel quartet genre. As the title implies, these tracks were laid down in five sessions between July 1946 and May 1951 and they mostly feature the Swans' best-known lineup: the legendary Claude Jeter, with his so distinctive high tenor/falsetto, Roosevelt Payne, John Myles, Henry Bossard and Solomon Womack. With some classic numbers, including "Dig A Little Deeper", "Will The Circle Be Unbroken", "These Bones Gwine Rise Again", "Backslider's Plea" and "Jesus Met The Woman At The Well", this is a collection that should be top of any classic gospel aficionado's Christmas list. Heartily recommended for those who still like to travel the Gospel Highway.
