As the title states, this album features 20 well known hymns played on the piano accompanied by strings. Who precisely this American pianist is remains unknown thanks to the woefully unhelpful sleeve. Songs included are classics such as "Be Thou My Vision", "And Can it Be", "The Church's One Foundation" and "Holy, Holy, Holy" - quite a variety of uptempo praise and more contemplative worship. However, it is still reflective in nature overall, so don't expect to be swinging from the chandeliers with the former! The gaps between the tracks are actually quite short so the end result is a seamless flow from one hymn to the next. Without meaning to be demeaning, this makes it a great CD to play in the background to support a meditation or prayer time. I suspect this is likely to be the main use of this competent but anonymous 2006 recording.
