The Vals from Belfast are gaining a solid fanbase on the Irish scene and this tuneful piece of retro pop sounds like the kind of Beatlesque anthem Oasis have been trying (usually unsuccessfully) to record for years. Singer/composer Paul Doherty is clearly a big talent, the wistful mid-tempo track driven by a simple piano figure a delight and I can only advise lovers of skilfully crafted pop to catch up on The Vals right away.
