With the label "Celtic" now being treated as a cash cow to be mercilessly milked by record company marketing men, we must start by observing that these lads and lasses are genuine Scots and indeed recently clocked up 10 years of ministry playing in church halls and prisons with never a whiff of record company hype. As usual on any The Weaver's Hand album it's the tracks featuring the voice of Marilyn Marshall which are the strongest and with some familiar names in the backing band the threesome turn in credible acoustic-driven songs with simple yet effective melodies and lyrics which mix up passages of folk-tinged eloquence about wind swept coasts or prison life with direct declarations of faith.
