With the ongoing enthusiastic support for roots music, it's good that these Glaswegian veterans with four years of gigs in schools, churches and prisons should get a CD out. Roots, as we know, isn't all moshers going crazy to mandolin riffs, but also takes in the gently pop folk sound of the 50s and 60s. And it's the latter which is the clear musical reference point of The Weavers Hand. There is plenty of lyrical maturity shown on this set of songs which continually link the love of the Eternal God with the love found between man and woman. Conservative church elements may object but as far as I'm concerned this is a profoundly biblical link. My problem with the album is the poor quality of the lead vocals. Many tracks suffer from flat notes and vocal thinness high in wince-factor.
