In his foreword the former Archbishop of Canterbury and present Vice President of Help The Aged promises "many a chuckle" and that "many of the big issues of life, of suffering, of old age are faced openly and honestly." And so it proves to be. A delicate balance of humour, pathos, gut-level reality and occasional fairytale quality mix here in a delightful, tension-free brew. Much of the contents exhibit no great heights of genius, including some items from plain, ordinary folk. It's the sincere sharing of mankind's common experiences that is so touching and valuable. There are new, relevant hymns from readers of Yours, the Help The Aged magazine, and much besides to consider and treasure. This book will interest the older folk in the hospice I work in and will be useful in many and varied situations.
