A year ago I got a cassette demo of this album and was asked to get in touch with the band to give my views on what would go on the finished CD. I was pleased to do so. In the covering letter it said the CD would be out in the autumn. Well, what's a season or two between friends, and it has been worth the wait. This album didn't disappoint! Many rock musicians cock a snoot at the use of modern technology in rock music. I used to have that narrow, puritanical view myself, but that's so limiting. The possibilities are almost endless through the use of digital technology today. For example, Killing Joke, with their 'Pandemonium' album - rock meets the technology of dance music; they're still a rock band, but with a wider canvas and more colours. Thre3 have done the same, using samples and loops. 'Souleve Tout' is both ponderous and raw. There is a distinct return to Thre3's roots and at the same time a reworking of them. The album is also an evolution in its production - imaginative and tighter, especially the bottom end. "The Stranger" is a wonderful track with a great bass line and delayed guitar riff. I love "Dada", "Autumn Winds", "Trust '98" (a reworking of "Trust" from their 'Bleeding Youth' album), "Strike 3" and "The Passage". SUPERB!
