Currently based at The Beacon Church, Camberley, Surrey, and having been involved in leading worship and writing songs for some 15 years, this is Brown's first CD, containing as it does six of his own songs written over a 10-year period. Brown strives to write songs which point to and reflect the glory of God and which are sufficiently accessible for the whole Church to sing. The arrangements are guitar-led with a consistent song structure of explanatory verses leading into big, summing up choruses. Brown himself sings very effectively, with an appealing, resonant tone to his voice and a good range. But the lack of standout melodic ideas or fresh lyrical insights will probably mean that 'Focus Of Eternity' will struggle to get noticed.
