Truth are a bunch of six, young-looking singers (three male, three female) from America with good voices and the ability to make the most of some well-written songs. They’ve evolved out of a choir who down the years have been a launch pad for more than one solo career. The album by this particular version of Truth features nifty production work from John and Dino Elephfante. A typical, somewhat manufactured boy/girl group (none of the band feature in the songwriting of musician credits), and the songs are equally typical, slick, three-minute radio-friendly pop. No criticism, then, of the quality of either the songs or the singer, but the overall effect is possibly a touch too bland – nothing really leaps out and grabs you. The album is consistently good without ever scaling the heights, but lacks the something special that would make me want to go out and buy it. On the other hand, if you like Amy Grant or Michael W Smith in their more poppy incarnations, then you’ll probably like this as well.
