Calling your album 'The Masterpiece' is a bit pretentious and I have to report that this is less Leonardo and more like Lowry, generally pretty good without being world class. Certainly Twinkie Clark's reputation as the leading light of The Clark Sisters led to great expectations and lots of this is top drawer gospel but it ain't an absolute classic. Ben Tankard's production and playing add a slab of class and Twinkie lets rip on both ballads and up tempo stuff. There's the occasional attempt at urban beats ("Bless You Real Good" works nicely) and there's the more traditional "Wait On Him" with choir and piano. Twinkie has a fine voice which ducks and dives around the arrangements and is particularly effective on "Awesome", "Sweet Love" and "In A Miracle". She hits a sumptuous vamping groove on the close of "I've Been Delivered" which recalls the best Clark Sisters stuff but still after four years absence, this album acts as an excellent calling card to remind us of Twinkie's excellent voice and continued potential rather than being the killer knockout masterpiece that the title helped to suggest.
