Tyrone grew up as the son of a preacher who was exposed to church music from an early age and always wanted to play his own music. Having been part of highly regarded CCM band Skypark in the '90s Tyrone went on to become a solo artist and has seen some success, including a good number of TV music placements. As a solo artist he's previously produced three studio albums and a live album and now presents us with this, a largely acoustic collection of songs. It's a beautifully made record with a mature sound, musically intelligent songs and excellent performances and has been well produced with plenty of breathing space in the mix. Right from the opening folksy guitar of "Running Around In My Dreams" there is an attractively wistful air, reminiscent of some of the more acoustic moments of James Morrison, but more so. Tyrone has a great voice, rich in harmonics and pathos, which well suits the acoustic style. In an interview a few years back when talking about Skypark he stated, "We were Christians by faith, but not by genre" and this continues to be the case with his solo material. So whilst you won't find explicitly Christian lyrics, you will find echoes of faith and Christian ethics in his relationship songs. The title track is a challenge to stop spending money on war and personal vanity and look after the poor and hungry. An excellent collection of songs from a mature songsmith.
