When Mike Rimmer reviewed the 'Unshaken EP' back in CR73 he described it as "strictly dance rock integrating elements of techno, dance and even a splash of pop." Add to that "metal" and you've got a you've got a pretty unclassifiable product. Unshaken consist of two preacher's kids, from Dallas, Texas; David Galligan (guitar, drums and programming), Jared Galligan (bass), with Michael Wright on drums. Even though David (the youth pastor in his parents' church) is the younger of the two brothers, this project seems thoroughly his in production and authorship. The industrial breakbeats fit well with the heavy guitars, but on the softer tracks the material is quite funked up. Tracks like "Bring Them All" are a blatant call to evangelism with haunting keywords, classical guitars, and James Brown-style drum beats that deserve airplay. Spin 180 have them nominated on their website for artist and album of the year. Although the heavier material might wake the spiritually dead, it is the more pop rock material that is of sufficient quality to make it in the mainstream. Jesus doesn't appear to get a look in apart from in the credits, although the songs are mostly about spiritual issues and have a Christian theme. Already the tracks "Take A Chance" and "Secret" (from the EP) have been featured on Cross Rhythms radio. These guys have huge potential.
