This musical is the brainchild of Kevin Wilson, a composer from Newton Abbott, Devon who has been making music for over 15 years, mainly for advertising. 'Into The Light' tells the story of Nanoushka, played by Louise Key, who is troubled by nightmares and demonic experiences due to dabbling with the occult. The convincing Devil, cleverly played by famed thespian Russell Boulter, begins eerily with his chilling voice tormenting Nanoushka. Nanoushka wakes from her nightmare and so the story starts to unfold. The CD portrays the stark warning of how opening up to the spiritual world brings invitation for demonic forces to possess you. The music has some clever hooks and reflects well the mood of each scene. Louise Key has a strong emotive voice throughout, though the choral back up lacks variety. In places the music is vaguely reminiscent of Jeff Wayne's 'War Of The Worlds' soundtrack though for me the story line links let this concept album down. Also, in parts it is corny, particularly when the vicar just so happens to be struggling with an Alpha course poster when he meets the troubled Nanoushka, sounding contrived. But as a creative tool warning against the perils of the occult, this definitely makes a valuable contribution.
