According to at least one review, The Song is a feature film which brings new credibility to the stylised predictability of many Christian-theme movies. Apparently the film follows an aspiring singer/songwriter played by Alan Powell (known to Christian music devotees as lead singer of Anthem Lights) who is trying to escape the shadow of his country music legend father. After writing his wife "The Song" (a rather attractive ballad otherwise known as "Awaken Love") it becomes a hit and, in the words of the plot synopsis, he is "thrust into a world of stardom and a world of temptation." The soundtrack for the movie is an intriguing mix. Alan Powell's strong rock voice sounds pretty good on several tracks here while the contribution of bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs brings some country authenticity to the proceedings. Climax to the movie and to the soundtrack is a rendition of Pete Seeger/The Byrds' "Turn Turn Turn" sung by one-time member of The Byrds, Roger McGuinn, country icon Emmylou Harris and Ricky Skaggs. Certainly an above average soundtrack set.
