I think Integrity Music is doing this release a little injustice here by describing this compilation of their early recordings as "vintage worship", but seeing as much of the material dates from the beginnings of the massive rise in popularity of "praise and worship" albums, maybe they have a point, if you forget the true pioneers like New Zealand's Scripture In Song and California's Maranatha! Music. In all honesty though, unless you like your praise and worship albums to be strictly easy listening, this compilation isn't for you. That's not to say that it's all bad. The three Ron Kenoly tracks, including the title track, are easily the best and certainly the liveliest (they're also the newest). There are a couple of good renditions of some "golden oldies" too, but the rest is not great listening. If nothing else it suffers from some poor editing, with "All Hail King Jesus" lasting just under one and a half minutes before suddenly fading out, and "Hosanna" not faring much better, while the title track weighs in at a hefty seven minutes 40 seconds. In between, tracks four to eight are all merged together like a medley but the result is tiresome. Graham Kendrick leading "Shine Jesus Shine" finishes it off, but I'm sure there are better versions around than this one. Could be so much better.
