One of the oddities in the packaging of this 2-CD set is that, having identified "British Live" as the compilation's main selling point, it fails to tell us what events are the sources of these live recordings. Spring Harvest, being the owners of Essential Records, clearly source many of the tracks, but as for the other events I confess that I don't have the time or the inclination to compare them with the welter of live worship event albums to identify more. Suffice to say, Tim Hughes contributes a pleasant reading of "Holding Nothing Back" (written by Hughes and Martin Smith), Cathy Burton delivers a stirring rendition of Hillsong Worship's "What A Beautiful Name", Colin Webster a less impressive version of the Delirious? oldie "Thank You For Saving Me", and Pete James shows that "King Forevermore", a song he has written with Aaron Keyes, is a gem deserving of world church circulation. Maybe not the most imaginative or informative compilation, and one not helped by a sleeve pic which looks like something from a British tourism pamphlet. But there's no doubting the passion and no little musical expertise on offer here, while the quality of these songs is pretty high.
