When the biggest selling series in the history of Christian music decides to launch a new subdivision you'd better pay attention. 'Wow Hits 1' isn't like other Wow albums a double CD but instead crams 19 of the most current songs from top selling CCM acts taking in everything from pop, rock and modern worship. Most interest on this compilation goes to the song "So Great", the first fruit of Martin Smith's Compassionart initiative and featuring as it does stirring vocal performances from Michael W Smith, Israel Houghton and Christy Nockels this is sure to be a Christian radio favourite in the weeks ahead. Tracks which have already gone the distance in Christian radio are here in abundance including "Tunnel" by Third Day, "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)" by Chris Tomlin, "I'm For You" by Toby Mac, "In Wonder" by Newsboys, "East To West" by Casting Crowns and many more. I wish Wow would stop their silly habit of calling the last few songs on their compilations "bonus tracks" but even these cuts by CCM newcomers Daniel Doss Band, Cadia and Tenth Avenue North are undeniably good. If you are looking for a way of keeping up to date with the Nashville scene, I reckon this new subseries will do you nicely.
