Veggie Tales have achieved the difficult task of producing children's material which is instructive and entertaining without falling into the trap of being twee, naff or religious! Quite a feat you'll agree. What's more, they've managed to make their animation appeal to an adult sense of humour without losing the kids on the way. 'Are You My Neighbour' follows the previous format of two stories in a half hour programme. In "The Story Of Flibber O Loo" Bob The Tomato and Larry The Cucumber take us through an update of the Good Samaritan parable. But the highlight of this episode is "The Gourds Must Be Crazy" which, believe it or not, is a Star Trek spoof! Sheer genius as the USS Applejuice is saved from disaster. Highly entertaining with an up front message to teach your kids about loving their neighbour! As a bonus, "Silly Songs With Larry" features the wonderful "Hairbrush Song" - okay, so it's completely crazy, but it's also the best Christian kids entertainment/teaching that I've see. Catchy songs, silly animation, lots of really daft jokes and it sows biblical ideas into your kids while they're enjoying the fun. Been thinking, it's almost worth having some kids myself so I have an excuse to buy the whole series!
